Bergamot Essential Oil Safety

• Essential oils are extremely potent and can cause serious harm if used incorrectly.
• In line with the Therapeutic Goods Act, we do not recommend ingesting essential oils without the guidance of a registered Aromatherapist or Naturopath.
• Essential oils should be kept out of reach of children and pets.
• Avoid using essential oils during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.
• Essential oils are very concentrated and are likely to cause irritation or reactions if applied directly to the skin. For this reason, we recommend diluting your essential oils before using them topically (on the skin).
• Bergamot Essential Oil is phototoxic. This means that when applied topically (even diluted), this essential oil can cause skin sensitivity when exposed to sunlight, and in some cases, cause burning. We recommend avoiding direct sunlight for 24h after topical application.

Application:

Dilute by adding 1 part of bergamot essential oil to 4 parts of carrier oil, this essential oil is suitable for direct inhalation and ingestion, and for diffusion and topical application when diluted.

Allspice, Basil, Cardamom, Chamomile, Citronella, Citrus, Clary Sage, Clove, Coriander, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium, German Chamomile, Ginger, Grapefruit, Helichrysum, Holy Basil, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender< Lemon, Lemongrass, Marigold, Melissa, Myrrh, Myrtle, Neroli, Nutmeg, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Petitgrain, Roman Chamomile, Rosemary, Rose Otto, Sandalwood, Pine Needle, Vetiver, Violet, Yarrow, Ylang-Ylang.

Safe Use:

Not recommeded for children younger than 5 years old. Applying bergamot essential oil without diluting it first can cause skin irritation, and repeated use can lead to contact sensitization. It is extremely phototoci; direct sunligh and UV Light should be avoided for as long as 72 hours after use.
